Cam Cunningham, composer/songwriter

“I’m originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. I grew up in a household of music lovers, who encouraged me to pursue music. I picked up guitar at age 12 and immediately started composing my own songs. I attended the University of Chicago where I studied Music Composition under Mwata Bowden, Augusta Read Thomas, and Anthony Cheung. I won the Menn Prize for top composition by a senior. After graduation most of my music effort went towards writing songs and performing in various bands in Chicago. Since COVID-19, I have been focusing on my composing career. I attended the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring program. In 2021, the city of Chicago awarded me a grant to write an album of solo material, which I expect out in 2022. I hope to focus on scoring films while continuing to write songs for Cordoba and other projects.”
