Eliza Brown – String Quartet No. 1

Eliza Brown’s first string quartet holds a special place in Spektral’s history as it appears on our debut album, Chambers. A mesmerizing work filled with vivid sonic colors, subtle pitch bends, notes on the precipice of audibility, and a frenetic climax, String Quartet No. 1 continues to be an audience favorite, and one that merits deeper exploration. We elected to have Eliza kick off this new series in large part because she is such an engaging and erudite communicator – and because our own love for this piece has grown significantly across multiple performances over the years.
