Event Description

UPDATE: This performance has been canceled in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.

CHAI Collaborative Ensemble (CCE) is now in its fifth season, and each concert of our season is anchored by a history, whether it be musical or poetic. Our October concert cycle, Found Objects, was a timely exploration of our relationship with our natural history and our current place on planet Earth, and was anchored by Jenni Brandon’s haunting Found Objects: On the Beach (2014), and also included works by Juliana Hall, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Our debut performance at the Chicago Cultural Center under the aegis of New Music Chicago (NMC) is a repurposing of that program. While our program is still centered on Brandon’s work, our program is now rounded out by selections from Hilary Tann’s Songs of the Cotton Grass for soprano and oboe (2003-04), and Alex Shapiro’s Re:pair for clarinet and bassoon (2007).
