Event Description

New music and chamber music artists, Juan Horie and Sixto Franco, have joined together to form the Quijote Duo. With a combined experience in many fields including theater, education, composition, concert music, and arts management, the Quijote Duo expands the limits of the performative arts and the relationship between artist, performance, and audience. The Quijote Duo has been selecting new works for viola and cello with the idea in mind of breaking the barriers of expression and novelty through experimentation and innovation. Every program the Quijote Duo designs shows our support to emergent composers.

The Quijote Duo has been selecting new works for viola and cello with the idea in mind of breaking the barriers of expression and novelty through experimentation and innovation. The repertoire we choose shows our commitment and support to emergent composers all around the United States and across borders. We are enthusiastic about finding new and different voices and strive to always present ambitious and eclectic program with contrasting works such as Boisonneault’s “Currents.” We also hope that this Ear Taxi Festival Spotlight Concert program will give us the opportunity to premiere Igor Santo’s and Ben Zucker’s brand new pieces, both Chicago-based composers.
