Event Description

Sunlit is a musical exploration of humanity’s relationship with nature, performed at the Garfield Park Conservatory, one of the largest and most stunning botanical conservatories in the nation. Musical selections for this Ear Taxi Festival Spotlight Concert explore the ever-present influence of the sun and its cycles, the seasons, animal life, and our inescapable need to take an active role in preserving nature. Selections of the evening will include Missy Mazzoli’s Still Life with Avalanche, Laura Schwendinger’s Until the Sunrise, Griffin Candey’s Buckboard Charlie, and two works by Lakeshore Rush Composer-in-Residence Amos Gillespie; Sunlit, inspired by the Chicago Cultural Center’s famous Tiffany Dome, and the world premiere of The Entertainment of Being, the composer’s response to a shift to more introspective time spent in the beautiful outdoors in 2020.
