Lecture On Silence for Chicago is one iterative culmination of Jillian DeGroot’s several-years-long journey toward and with silence. Starting in 2019, she began traveling across the United States trying to get as close to the absence of sound as possible—learning, stretching, growing, and, many times, failing. Inspired by John Cage’s infamous Lecture On Nothing, here she presents a lecture-performance on silence for Chicago.
