Event Description

“Recovering the Art of Eustasio Rosales” is a performance of Rosales’ recently rediscovered chamber music. Eustasio Rosales was a Colombian immigrant who came to Chicago seeking a better life. Now known as Chicago’s first Hispanic Composer, his music was celebrated in his lifetime, including in performances by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. After his death, though, his music has languished in storage in his grand-daughter’s basement. The concert will premiere recently rediscovered scores from the composer’s granddaughter’s collection, unearthed and performed for one of the first times in the 84 years since his death!

This is the final performance of Crossing Borders Music’s six-concert series “Choosing Life and Freedom.”
