The Juliani Ensemble, a highly acclaimed chamber music ensemble comprised of world class musicians, has delighted audiences with inventive, energetic chamber music concerts since its inception in 1999. As a performing partner at the Chicago Cultural Center in Preston Bradley Hall, the Juliani Ensemble performed to enthusiastic, appreciative audiences for over twenty years. They built a dedicated following and have garnered critical praise, including in the Chicago Tribune and other publications. Recent appearances include performances for “Concerts from the Library of Congress,” a tour of Canada, residencies at the University of Missouri and Washington and Lee University, live radio features on 98.7 WFMT, and other engagements both nationally and internationally.
The Juliani Ensemble specializes in music for flute trio, with Emily Seaberry Graef (flute), Julian Graef (violin, viola), and Anita Graef (cello) forming the core membership of the Ensemble. In addition to championing this rarely heard repertoire, the Ensemble stands apart by its membership; its performers are family members as well as colleagues. In addition to a busy touring schedule, the Juliani Ensemble members also direct Saturday Salons, a Chicago-based chamber music series, as well as Tallgrass Chamber Music Festival in Potosi, WI. Both projects feature a roster of international guest artists, enabling a flexibility of programming that ensures concerts are fresh, fluid and engaging. The Juliani Ensemble has long held a deep commitment to service, education and outreach, not only abroad but at home in Chicago, where they direct a tuition-free music education program in partnership with Mayfair Arts Center.
