William Jason Raynovich with Ayse Celesun
William Jason Raynovich returns to Clara to continue exploring uninterrupted, continuous musical presentations integrating Pure Data, live electronics, and improvisational structures. The set for this performance incorporates compositions for acoustic cello alongside the electronic performance environment.
This performance will also include his newest work, was for cello and electronics, featuring Mary’s Lament. This new algorithmic composition is dedicated during each performance to an individual who has passed away, creating a changing memorial framework within the work itself. This performance marks the second opportunity to hear the piece live. As with now, was will go through many iterations before maturing into a realized concert work. Each performance modifies and refines the piece.
Additional works on the program include compositions by Colin Kemper, Alvin Lucier, Jeff Morris, Eve Beglarian, Valentin Silvestrov, John Tavener, and Pamela Z.
Rounding out the set will be a short selection by pianist Ayse Celesun.
