Transcendent Souls II
Join us for our second Transcendent Souls concert of works by queer, trans, and nonbinary composers! This program riffs on the structure and atmosphere of the Bach Cello Suites combined with the sound of the human voice. Lily Koslow’s Posthaste is an abstraction of the First Suite Minuets, while Andrew Norman’s For Ashley plays with the hypnotic nature of the Fourth Suite Prelude. Two works by Benjamin T. Martin reference sacred themes and borrow from early sacred music, and the composer will join for the performance of their Two Sacred Songs for tenor and cello.
