Lakeshore Rush premieres new works by Illinois composers. Natasha Bogojevic writes a meditation on the effects of gun violence. Xavier Beteta weaves songs in an ancient Mayan language.  Angel Bat Dawid writes about the Catacombs. Ethan Dymit’s “Child’s Play” uses nursery rhymes as a starting point.

Lakeshore Rush is a mixed chamber ensemble joined by five dynamic vocal soloists as they premiere works by Natasha Bogojevic, Ephraim Champion, Ethan Dymit, Xavier Beteta, and Angel Bat Dawid. The works range in scope from Bojojevic’s work "Threnody of Hope" written for the victims of gun violence everywhere, to Beteta’s work which is sung in the Mayan language Quiché, a score based on fairy tales and nursery rhymes from Dymit, and Dawid’s work based on William Demby's existential novel "The Catacombs."

Musics was written for the Gillespie Chamber Quartet and the premiere took place at the Green Mill in Chicago on May 20th, 2018.
