
Dongryul Lee is a composer and Assistant Professor of Music at Loyola University Chicago. His music has been performed by ensembles and artists including Miranda Cuckson, the Jupiter and Mivos Quartet, the Taukay Ensemble, Paramirabo, the Grossman Ensemble, the Callithumpian Consort, Avanti!, and Axiom Brass, among others, and has been presented at venues such as Harvard University, the Logan Center for the Arts, Brown Hall and Jordan Hall in Boston, Villa Elisabeth in Berlin, Harpa Hall in Reykjavík, Ilshin Hall in Seoul, and major contemporary music festivals in the United States, Europe, and Asia including EarTaxi Festival (2025). His music has received major international recognition, including prizes at the Bartók World Competition (Hungary), the GMCL (Portugal), the Città di Udine (Italy), and the Busan Maru Competition (South Korea). He was designated as an Alternate for the Fromm Music Foundation Commission in 2025. Recent works include Missa Laudato Si’, commissioned by the EcoVoice Project and premiered at Loyola University Chicago in 2025, and TimeStory, An AstroPastoral, premiered by the Grossman Ensemble. Lee holds a BS in Computer Science and Industrial Systems Engineering from Yonsei University, a BM from the Eastman School of Music, and MM and DMA degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, and was the fourth CCCC Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Chicago in 2020–21.
