WFC presents Constellations
A program built for the warm and vast acoustic of St Vincent de Paul, WFC’s Constellations explores uncommon choral music from the renaissance to today. From works like “Just Constellations” composed to be sung in midwest grain silos, to works written for ancient cathedrals, we contemplate the starlit wonder of the December sky. We wait and we seek ways in which centuries talk to each other. We explore wisdom passed from generation to generation. We discover the ways in which vocal music from throughout history shares a thread.
From the effortless beauty of Kerensa Briggs A tender shoot, to the extraordinary exploration of intonation in Harrison’s piece, we discover how a concert venue is part of the choir – how the extraordinary and vibrant acoustics of a room embrace the beauty of a vocal ensemble and transport us all to a new world.
Much of this music is without text – and presents us all with an opportunity to reflect on the season. As familiar beauty intrudes on our wordless space, we experience the comfort and joy that are imbued in the season.
