“echoes of now” is a live electroacoustic performance for electric cello and Pure Data spanning nearly thirty years of music, from Alvin Lucier’s “Indian Summer,” written in 1993, through works by Eve Beglarian and Pamela Z from the 2000s, Colin Kemper’s music from the 2020s with improvisation, and William Jason Raynovich’s “now,” begun in the 2010s and continuously evolving. Raynovich presents a living program that can itself be understood as a composition, in which the works are placed in conversation with one another and the computer becomes an active musical partner.
