Mannerist 11 is bassist/composer, Matt Ulery’s latest chamber-jazz orchestra project bringing together brass and wind players from the Chicago jazz and classical/new music scenes with piano, bass, and drums. For this Ear Taxi Festival Spotlight Concert, Mannerist 11 will premiere all new works by Ulery.

Chicago-based bandleader Matt Ulery has developed an instantly recognizable sound. Known for his sweeping lyricism, unconventional phrase structures, and expressionistic emotionalism, Ulery leads and composes all the music for several of his own bands. As a composer, Ulery has collaborated with diverse ensembles such as Eighth Blackbird, Miami String Quartet, New Millennium Orchestra of Chicago, Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Festival of Lexington, Axiom Brass, Wild Belle, Guimaraes (Portugal) Jazz Festival, and Projeto Arcomusical.
