Cordoba is a jazz fusion sextet from Chicago. Their music combines neo-soul vocals with jazzy improvisations and hip hop inspired beats. Though they are no strangers to odd and uneven grooves, their music is always rooted in a strong backbeat. Their first LP, Specter, is a reflection on their relationship with Chicago as both political organizers and musicians. They make use of huge arrangements including string and horn sections as they grapple with the systems of injustice so present in our city. In their newest LP, they take a step back and stick to their jazz ensemble roots as they confront the horrors of everyday life and beyond.
